Master in Digital Communication and Culture

MA in Digital Communication and Culture is an interdisciplinary flexible master’s degree for students interested in digital culture, media, language, and texts, and interested in a career in the rapidly changing landscapes of media, business, public sector, or education. Digital technologies are rapidly changing our culture and society, and these tools have a profound role in shaping our future on a global scale. The MA programme in Digital Communication and Culture is focused on the social, cultural, ethical, aesthetic, and linguistic aspects of digital communication technology, as well as the interaction and interplay between culture, society and media. The programme addresses questions of how digital communication and culture both shape and are shaped by interactions, relations, and experiences of social life, using perspectives and methods from the humanities (such as linguistics, history, aesthetic or literary studies) and social sciences (such as pedagogy or sociology). What is special about digital environments and the impact they have on communication, meaning and experience? How do forms of digital communication transform language and everyday life? How do online platforms and interfaces, and technologies of artificial intelligence shape contemporary culture and society, from the public sector and political decision-making to education and business life? As well as addressing such questions, this programme highlights the importance of socially and ethically informed development of the digital society, and the technologies we design to build it.
