Fluid Mechanics

You can study anything from ocean currents to blood flow, ocean waves, tsunamis and renewable energy. You learn mechanics, mathematics, programming and get practical experience with real problems. About the programme The master's programme in Fluid Mechanics gives you practical experience with scientific method and thinking, and teaches you to develop tools based on mechanics, mathematics and informatics. We combine development of mathematical models, programming and numerical computations, laboratory experiments and field work. Read more about student life. Studies abroad The master's programme in Mechanics offers possibilities for studies at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) in your third semester. You can also go on exchange through the agreements offered by the University of Oslo. We recommend that you go during the second, or maybe the third, semester. Further studies and work After the study you will be well prepared for working in several fields both within the private and public sectors. Many of our master's theses are directly related to the problems and activities of technological companies and institutions in Norway. Mechanics can be a bridge between mathematics and physics and can be a suitable specialization for those who want to be science teachers in school. Some of the master's students who obtain very good results choose to continue on a research carrier by taking a doctoral degree (PhD) at the University of Oslo or a university abroad. Honours certificate Are you academically ambitious? It is possible to supplement your master's degree with an honours certificate worth 20 credits. You take the certificate concurrently with the master's programme.
