Molecular Medicine - Master's Programme

Rapid developments of medical technology and new kinds of conceptual thinking within the field of biology, have increased the need for laboratory specialization. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) offers an international Master of Science (MSc) program in Molecular Medicine tailored to meet this demand. The program of study is suited for students with a bachelor’s degree (or 3-year equivalent) in biomedical science, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, or similar. A solid background in cellular and molecular biology is highly recommended. Molecular medicine focuses on obtaining an in-depth understanding of the molecular basis of human diseases with the goal to develop new ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent them. One of the major goals is to develop new treatment strategies that can be tailored to subgroups of patients or to the individual patient, based on their unique genetic and molecular profile – also known as "precision- or personalized medicine".
