The MARBIO Master programme will be introduced by a mandatory course which is organized by the partner universities responsible for the program and comprises web-based modules combined with a physical meeting (intensive campus course and/or field visit, …) for up to one week at the partner universities. Students must have completed a safety course before they can use special rooms, special equipment or perform procedures that involve increased risk Depending on the master's thesis and electives, students could gain expertise in the following areas depending on the partner university: Marine fish, shellfish, Algae Biology, Civil Law, Political Science, Business and Economics Aquaculture, Environmental Interactions, Marine Ecology, Genomics and Epigenetics Freshwater Biology and Fish Behavior Micro- and macroalgae biotechnology Master in Sustainable Production and Utilisation of Marine Bioresources (MARBIO) is a research-based master's program that combines expertise from several Nordic countries to educate the next generation of professionals in the field of Blue Growth and Marine Circular Economy. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students gain insight into the interactions between fisheries, aquaculture, the environment, law, management, production, and utilization of marine bioresources. The program builds on the expertise of Norway, Iceland and Sweden in these areas. This program fosters mobility and exchange between the partner universities (Bodø, Hòlar and Göteborg) to delve into the complementary aspects of Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources in the Nordic countries. The first semester includes three mandatory courses, one from each partner university, with a combination of online and on-site lectures, seminars, industry visits, etc. During the second semester, students exchange to one of the partner universities. Building on their first-year experience, they will work on their master's thesis project, which they will finalize at the end of the second year. Practical learning in modern facilities As a student, you will get the access to our top modern facilities in Noatun , which is the the new faculty building at Bodø campus. The building is a key part of Nord University’s investment in marine sciences, and houses advanced laboratories, modern teaching rooms and workspaces located close to active research environments. You will also gain valuable hands on experience at the Mørkvedbukta research station , where you can take part in experiments and fieldwork in collaboration with researchers and industry partners. The programme is a full time, two year course (120 ECTS credits) and is taught in English.
